Betty Jo Thomas, 84, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Mt Carmel West Hospital with her family by her side. Betty was born on February 20 in Devon, WV to Roy and Josephine (Smith) Mooney.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandra; brothers, Roy and Frank and; sister, Estelle.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Rosswell (Whitey); daughters, Melinda (Dan) Staloch of Columbus, Deanna, and Robin; son, Ross; grandchildren, Kim, Karla, Steve, Bethany, Leonard, Amy, Ashley, Paul, Benjamin and Elizabeth; step-grandchildren, Alison, Dan and Mitch; brothers, Mack and Pat; numerous nieces and nephews; and special grand-dog Emmy, who made many nursing home visits to see her Grandma.
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling with her husband on tours, listening to country music and cooking southern food for her friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Special thanks to all the staff at The Laurels of Worthington, special friend and nurse, Vicki Davis, the Mt. Carmel West ICU and Palliative Care Units and many other special friends of the family.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road Columbus, Ohio 43231. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 11:00am also at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE. Betty will be laid to rest at Northlawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Laurels of Worthington Steps Committee or Alzheimer's Association Central Ohio Chapter.
