Listen to Obituary

Betty Ross, of Grove City, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ida Peck; her husband, Harry Ross of 57 years; her brothers Kenneth, Donald, and Roger Peck; and her sisters Dorothy Thompson and Edith Peck.

Betty was the devoted mother of Daniel and Mark Ross, beloved mother-in-law to Mark’s wife, Susan Ross, and proud grandmother of Emerson Ross. She is also survived by her brother John Peck, sister Kathleen Messier, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Born on February 4, 1938, in Menifee County, Kentucky, Betty spent her childhood helping her parents on the family farm. A proud member of the Silent Generation, she embodied the values of hard work, discipline, and tradition. She delighted in tending her garden, especially her flowers, herbs, tomatoes, and took great joy in the hummingbirds and butterflies that visited.

As a devoted military spouse for thirty years, Betty embraced the adventures of military life, traveling widely and meeting people from all walks of life. She remained deeply devoted to her family, cherishing visits to Kentucky, long conversations with her siblings, and treasured moments with her children and granddaughter.

After settling in Atlanta, Georgia, and eventually retiring, Betty and her husband indulged their shared love of baseball, spending more than a decade as Atlanta Braves ticket takers and enjoying the friendships of both coworkers and fans.

Betty and her husband shared a life of quiet generosity and service. Through their church, they devotedly volunteered, gathering items for veterans, the elderly, and especially children, always approaching every act with grace and humility. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to fostering relationships and community touched all who knew her.

She will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery alongside her husband, Harry, a fitting tribute to their life of service and love.
