Betty Jean Stewart, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025. Born Betty Jean Dutcher on March 6, 1932, in McArthur, Ohio, she was the daughter of Elza and Bernice (Cassill) Dutcher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George E. Stewart; her son, Gary Dean; brothers Clarence Dutcher and Herbert Dutcher; and sisters Marion Mathews, Martha Sisson, and Phyllis Betz.
Betty is survived by her sister, Mary Fee (Jerry); sons Roger Stewart (Lisa) and Jerry Stewart (Tracy); daughters Debbie Landman (Gary) and Becky Asher (Jim); as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and fellow parishioners.
Betty spent many years as a dedicated and meticulous bookkeeper, office manager, and public notary. In her free time, she was an active member of her local church, Glen Echo Presbyterian, an avid puzzler, a prolific reader, and a devoted matriarch.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43231. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Lee Platt.
