Listen to Obituary

Beverly Ann Craig, age 81, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. After a courageous 19-month battle with cancer, Beverly fought hard until the very end.

Beverly was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. She later made her home in Hartville, Ohio, before spending 22 wonderful years in Fort Myers, Florida.

Beverly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant the world to her. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul Craig, and her children, Lisa (Scott) Spears and Douglas Craig. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Tyler (Emily) Spears, Joey (Heather Linder) Spears, Jacob (Mariah) Spears, Hannah Craig, and Austin Craig, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Liam, Mila, and Arlo.

She was preceded in death by father, Frank Olenick; mother, Rosemary (Purdy) Olenick; and her sister, Diane (Olenick) Gid.

Beverly found joy in the most simple and beautiful things in life. She loved raising monarch butterflies, genealogy, thrifting, and gardening. Her curiosity about her family history and her love of nature were reflections of the person she was—someone who found meaning in where she came from and beauty in the world around her.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to The James Cancer Hospital and Capital City Hospice, as well as to all of the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who cared for Beverly with extraordinary compassion, kindness, and dignity throughout her journey.

A private celebration of life will be held for immediate family, in accordance with Beverly’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Capital City Hospice in Beverly’s honor.

Beverly may no longer be with us, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Whenever you see a monarch butterfly, always remember Beverly. It will be a little reminder of her love of nature and of the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
