Billy Scott Williams, age 98, born on August 31, 1918 to Russell & Mattie Williams in Moore County, North Carolina. He went home to be with the lord on December 17, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. Billy is preceded in death by parents Russell & Mattie Williams, sisters: Alice Black, Annie Ruth Taylor, Belle Person, Betty Shamberger, Eva Brower, Esther LeGrande and brother Leonard Williams, all from North Carolina.
In his early years, he attended and was a member of Reeves Chapel A.M.E. Church. He later moved his membership to Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church near Carthage, North Carolina. Billy moved to Pittsburgh PA where he met and married Viola Watkins in 1950 and their union blessed them to raise five children. He gave his life to Christ in January 1952 and preached his trial sermon October 1952, subject "Don't Look Back". He pastored many churches throughout the years, Saint Matthew FBH & 7th Ave Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio; Mt. Calvary in Springfield, Ohio; and Bethel FBH in Lima, Ohio. He opened the Full Gospel Church in New Venna, Ohio and also was the founder of Williams Temple (New Heaven), Columbus, Ohio. He still holds a charter with the Church of God in Christ and was an active member of New Mt. Sinai Church God in Christ.
Billy worked as a truck driver for many years until his retirement, he has seen and experienced many things in the 98 years that God let him stay here on this earth.
Billy leaves to cherish his memory is his Wife of 66 years, Viola Williams, Daughters: Doris (Edward) Bullock and Leticia (Sebastian) Jenkins; Sons: Daniel (Simone) Williams, Charles (Robin) Williams and Mark (Regine) Williams; Sisters: Mary Taylor, Mattie Williams and Jessie May (Robert) Barrett; Brother Willie (Lavern) Williams; Grandchildren: Brian (Terri) Perkins, Candice Perkins, Daniel (Clover) Williams, Tamika Walker, Derek Josey, Jayson (Danielle) Williams, Anthony (Corryn) Williams, Russell Williams, Donovan Williams, Robert Matlock, Angelique Williams, Ashley Walker and Jarren Williams; Great Grandchildren: Kendra Fernandez, McKenzie & John Williams, Elijah & Heaven Williams, and Kiara Saunders; Great-Great Grandchild Alyssa Fernandez. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
He loved the Lord and his family and he especially looked forward to his trips home to North Carolina every year in May to the Williams & Clegg family reunion.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Billy, knew he enjoyed telling stories to any one that would listen.
