Bobby D. Mullins

May 18, 1947 — May 1, 2019

Bobby D. Mullins, age 71, moved on to his next adventure May 1st, 2019, after long term health complications caused by Agent Orange exposure while serving his country in Vietnam. He was born on his family's farm on May 18th, 1947 in Alton Station, Kentucky, though Bobby spent most of his life in Southern and Central Ohio.

He entered the U S Army in 1967. After finishing Advanced Infantry training he served a year in Vietnam with the First Infantry Division. After returning home he took a break in service prior to enlisting in the 160th ARFGP, Ohio Air National Guard, later transferring to the123rd Tac Recon Wing, Kentucky Air National Guard as editor of the base newspaper. He enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard, becoming Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Adjutant Generals' Public Affairs Office. He would then be promoted to Master Sergeant and assume the duties as Chief of the 196th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment for the final 2 years of his 26 year military career.

His time in the military took him to 17 different countries, and aside from his family, memories and accomplishments from those travels were his greatest treasures. His awards include two Bronze Stars, Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Medal, 5 Army Achievement Medals and numerous other federal and state ribbons.

He explored many careers in various capacities, but spent the final 13 years before civilian retirement at the Defense Logistics Agency, Land & Maritime Supply Chains. There he served as a Management & Program Analyst, collaborating with the Army on forecasting spare parts to better serve the warfighter. While at DLA, Bobby had the opportunity to work alongside many friends from the Military Veterans Education Foundation, of which he was president emeritus and had been a trustee for many years.

An innovative thinker of many talents, Bobby was also a photographer, a skilled carpenter, an inventor, and a published author. Bobby embraced the whole spectrum of the human experience. A loner and a lover of people. An avid outdoorsmen who marveled at big cities. A man who appreciated the smallest and largest of creatures. The youngest and oldest of humans. Tenacious in achieving his endless list of goals, he would abandon that list immediately when he stumbled upon someone in need. He relished finding the best in everyone and encouraging them to see the best in themselves.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Mullins, children Rob (Javonne) Mullins, Tara (Joel) Mullins-Cosme, and Joshua Mullins as well as grandchildren Dalton, Audrey, Yeshua, Sage, Grace, and Gavin.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, John Mullins and Margaret Amburgey Mullins. He had also bid farewell to older siblings Nora Keith, Leatrice Mueller, Harriet "Linnie" Hayden, Josephine Colthar, Comer "Moon" Mullins, Dathan Mullins, and Brenda Shelton. He is survived by older siblings Rena "Belle" Perry, Adron Mullins, and Susie Easter, as well as younger brothers Gene Mullins and Jerry Mullins.
