Brenda Kay (Harr) Snyder, age 81, passed away peacefully at Meadow Grove Transitional Care in Grove City, OH, March 24, surrounded by her loving family. Brenda was the daughter of Hubert James and Phylene (Melvin) Harr. She was born in Wurtland, KY, and spent most of her childhood in Portsmouth, OH, where she graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1962 and was a member of Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene. Brenda attended the Ohio State University and became a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church on Sullivant Ave. after moving to Columbus in 1964. Later in life, she became a member of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbus.
Brenda is preceded in death by her loving husband Roger, cherished daughter Jamie, her parents, sister, Paulette Laws, brother-in-law, William Snyder, and nephew Scott Bernert.
Brenda is survived by her stepchildren Gordon (Cathy) Snyder; Douglas (Jill) Snyder; Jennifer Snyder Sorg (Ross Kincaid); and son-in-law Jim Thompson. Brenda is also survived by four loving grandchildren Chad (Brianna) Thompson; Bradley (Kellie Gaver) Thompson; Emma (Tim) Sorg Walker; and Kate Sorg (Diego Pina), and six beautiful great-grandchildren: Emma, Lily, Claire, and Baya, Remington, Crew Thompson. Brenda is also survived by her doting sister Letha (Dan) Bernert, brother-in-law Don Laws, brother-in- law Terry Feller (Karen Solman), half-sisters-in-law Melissa (Glenn) Robey and Lori Snyder, nieces Kelly Blair, Dawn (Dave) Deyo, and Mindy Bernert Gough, along with four great-nephews, one great-niece, and many wonderful friends.
Brenda worked for Nationwide Insurance as a Director of Annuity Sales Marketing for most of her career. She retired from Nationwide in 2009, after which she enjoyed many trips with her family to Marblehead, OH, where she and Roger had a lake home. Prior to buying their lake home, Brenda and Roger vacationed yearly in Port Clinton and Marblehead with her mother, mother-in-law, and children.
Brenda enjoyed her flower garden, fish pond, the symphony, and puzzle books, but the greatest loves of her life were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Chad, Brianna, Emma, Lily, and Claire Thompson for their loving care and devotion, which allowed Brenda to remain at home during her final years, and to Dawn and Dave Deyo for their constant love, attention, and company which brought her great comfort in her final years.
A memorial visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123 on Friday, April 24, 2026 from 10:00am to 11:00am, with a celebration of life service to follow at 11:00am.
