Callie L. Payne, formerly known as Callie L. Marcum, was born on March 2, 1931, in Fort Gay, West Virginia. She was a sweet lady and a beloved mother who had a special place in her heart for everyone she encountered. Callie passed away on November 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Throughout her life, Callie cherished her time in church, where she found joy in singing and connecting with her community. One of her proudest accomplishments was her devotion to her grandchildren, whom she loved deeply and took great pride in.
Callie is survived by her loving children: Audrey Earle, Brenda Tackett, Willis (Judy) Hunley, Larry Dale Hunley, Doris (Larry) Day, Raymond (Lori) Hunley, and Michael Hunley. She leaves behind her grandson, James Payne, along with multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Gearhart, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Callie's family remembers her warmth and the love she shared freely with all. She is preceded in death by her father, Joe Marcum; her mother, Elizabeth Marcum; her husbands, Willis Hunley and James Payne; as well as her son, James Hunley, and daughter, Linda Ratliff.
She will be missed dearly by many, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Memorial Gathering Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 3pm until the time of Memorial Service at 4pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.
