Carol Ann Cooney

Carol Ann Cooney (Dobson) passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Brookdale Muirfield Senior Living in Dublin, Ohio.

Carol was raised in Yonkers, New York, where she grew up in a close-knit family of four sisters, forming a lifelong sisterly bond that shaped her love for family and connection. She proudly considered herself a “New Yorker” throughout her life — a part of her identity that reflected her strength, spirit, and love of life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Lorraine (Jake) Jacobson and Lois Dobson.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; her children, Paul (Rachelle) Brennessel, Lauren (Patrick) Hannon, and Matt (Nicole) Brennessel; her sister, Donna Dobson Nowak; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Carol found great joy in being a grandmother to Parker, Gavin, Patrick, Lana, Nora, and Wayland, and she delighted in spending time with them, always bringing smiles and laughter to their lives.

Carol built a successful career in advertising while raising three children, a balance that reflected her determination and dedication to family. Beyond her professional accomplishments, her true passion was music. She loved listening to music, singing karaoke, and dancing, and she brought energy and joy to every room. She was also an excellent tennis player, a testament to her competitive spirit and love of staying active.

Carol had a deep love for the beach and the ocean, finding peace and happiness by the water. She especially cherished her many trips to Mexico, where she created countless memories enjoying the sun, sand, and sea. Carol also loved getting lost in a good book. Reading brought her relaxation, joy, and a sense of escape, and it was another way she embraced life’s stories with curiosity and warmth.

Carol will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her love of family, her adventurous spirit, and her ability to make life more joyful for those around her.

A celebration of life gathering will be held with immediate family at a future date.
