Carol Jean Sabo Davey
On the morning of December 7, 2015, Carol passed away peacefully of natural causes in her Franklinton home in Columbus, Ohio. Carol was born in Franklinton on December 9, 1936. Her parents Edith and Joseph Sabo and her brother Jimmy were lifelong members of the South-West Conservation Club. As a lifelong member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Carol was a devout follower of Christ. She spent decades as a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and served her church and faith on a daily basis.
She would work tirelessly serving breakfast and lunch at Holy Family School, to insure her 7 children would receive the best education. Only to return 40 years later to serve the many in need at the Holy Family Soup Kitchen. Where she became known as the "Candy Lady." Carol had a long and happy life, shared with many friends. Too many to include, especially at ten cents a letter. Her life would not have been the same without the love and support from Kat and Carl Albright, Lois and Ed Hughes and of course JoAnn "Boots" Green. Carol's true passion was working with children. Carol worked alongside her daughter Christine, at the West Side Day Care Center for over 30 years. Teaching generations of West siders, that still call her Ms. Davey.
Her passion is shared by her daughters, Peggy and Mary as they dedicate their life to the children of Columbus Public Schools. Her ability to love unconditionally is the reason most people called her Mom or Grandma. Her hugs make you feel that you were always her favorite. Her door was always opened, she always had room in her heart and at her table for one more. Carol was preceded by her husband Benjamin Davey, Mother Edith Heller Sabo, Father Joseph Sabo, brother Jimmy Sabo, daughter Chris (Andrews-Marcum) Davey, and her great-grandson Noah Kisner.
She is survived by her children, Benjamin (Arlene) Davey, Michael (Celeste) Davey, Peggy Davey, Brian (Christina)Davey, Bart (Lisa) Davey, and Mary (Phil) Posten.
She will be remembered by her 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren (two expected). And many nieces and nephews. Mass honoring Carol Davey will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church. 584 W. Broad St, Thursday December 17th at 10:00 a.m. Carol asked that you support the Holy Family Soup Kitchen in lieu of flowers.
