Carol Susan Gordon

Carol Susan Gordon, 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, in the home she shared with her beloved husband. Born on June 8, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio, Carol was a proud alumna of The Ohio State University where she met the love of her life, Mark Richard Gordon, on a blind date. Carol’s life was defined by her fierce devotion to her family. Carol pivoted from a career in speech pathology to master the business side of dentistry, founding and managing her husband’s private periodontal practice for 35 years. Guided by a desire to give back to her community, Carol also founded the Tiny Tots daycare center in Old Town Alexandria, a legacy that continues to serve families today.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mark; her four children, Thomas, Jennifer, Scott, and Kelly; her two cherished grandsons, Ryan and Evan Gordon; and her sisters, Ruth Johnson and Nancy McDermott. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas T. Johnson, and her mother, Irene.

A memorial service to celebrate her colorful life is tentatively planned for January, with details to be finalized at a later date. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Carol's honor to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.
