Caroline Tarrent

Caroline Tarrent, age 77, originally of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, in Westerville, Ohio, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Born on March 24, 1948 in Toledo, Caroline arrived into the world alongside her beloved twin brother, Alvin. A proud graduate of Toledo Scott High School’s Class of 1966, she studied Latin—continuing a tradition begun by her oldest brother, James. She went on to work at Ohio Bell and The Toledo Blade before building a long and fulfilling career with Johnson Controls, where she proudly served for more than 20 years until her retirement in 2016.

Caroline was a lifelong member of Third Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she joyfully served on the Usher Board and sang in the choir. She volunteered passionately with “Feed Your Neighbor” and the RSVP Quad through the Office of Aging. She was known as a prayer warrior—constantly lifting others up and leaning on her faith, this never wavered even in her final days.

Caroline truly never met a stranger. She cherished fellowship and community, and for more than 40 years she was a proud member of the Marvin Gaye Girls. She was an avid bowler, reader, and game enthusiast—never missing the chance to play her numbers. She also enjoyed crafting, holiday decorating, and making every moment with family and friends special. A sharp mind and quick thinker, she excelled at Jeopardy and loved cheering on her Ohio State Buckeyes, as well as watching and discussing figure skating and gymnastics with her niece.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dessie (Sanders) Tarrent; and brothers, James and Gerald Tarrent.

She is survived by her twin brother, Alvin Tarrent; sister-in-law, whom she affectionately called “Mom,” Loraine Tarrent; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and many dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her warmth, loyalty, and light.

Out of respect for Caroline’s wishes, there will be no formal memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Third Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio, in Caroline’s honor.
