Charles D. Alff, 77, of Canal Winchester, passed away on January 11th, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carole, devoted daughter, Christine Strickling, who cared for him during his illness, his daughter Caron and son, Carl D. Alff who also gave aid and comfort, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Chuck died at home surrounded by his family with special support from his grandson Nicholas Strickling and wife Elizabeth. A life long resident of the Columbus area, Chuck retired from a business he started in 1961 as an electrical contractor. Chuck and Carole were members of several Sports Car Clubs during the 1960's.
Chuck evolved into an outdoorsmans who particularly enjoyed fishing, hunting, and training bird dogs. He won the 1980 National Field Trial Championship with his dog "Roc." Chuck had a quick wit, easy disposition and enjoyed life.
Two of his favorite sayings were "If it was easy anybody could do it" and "Keep it between the fences."
