SGT Charles Huff Dawson, 60, passed away at home on Thursday May 28th after an 18 month long battle with cancer. He gave one hell of a fight. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for 21 years before retiring. He loved his schipperkes, reading and scrolling on his phone, loved listening to music, relaxing in the sun, enjoyed working out, going to shoot his weapons, loved all the latest gadgets and technology, and always came prepared. He truly loved his family and his country. Chuck was a Christian man who loved Jesus and kept his faith strong until the end.
Charles was born to Rosa May Tataum and John D Futch on April 15th 1966 in Monroe, Louisiana. From birth, he was adopted by Charles S. Dawson and Nina Scoville Dawson.
Chuck was with Brenda Mickey for the last 16 years; they loved to “pick” back and forth but truly loved each other.
Chuck will be deeply missed and is survived by Brenda Mickey; Step-Dad, Randall McFarland; Step-Daughter, Hayley Mickey; daughter, Shelby (Josh) Coddington (Josh); brothers, Doug (Amanda) Branch and Bert (Melissa) Scroggins; sisters, Leslie Dawson, Stacy (Randal) Howard, and Missy (Chuck) Vermeyen; as well as 3 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
