Charles E. Wright, 69, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 30, 2016. He was with his loving wife, Sharon and his family as his journey here drew to a close. He was born to Sterling and Lucy (Kelley) Wright in Columbus, Ohio on November 26, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Marion, Sterling Junior, Louis and Vernon.
Charles is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sharon Combs-Wright; children, Timothy (Cheryl) Berry,Sr., Delane (Shannon) Hye and Zannita Howell; brothers, Donald (Sheila) and Jerome; sisters, Doris Holliman, Jacqueline Redmon, Betty Johnson, Carrie Young, Shirley Gibson, Brenda (Harold) Cowan, Phyllis Brown, Barbra Wright, Arlene Calloway, Evelyn Doughty and Lynn (Russell) Cunningham; mother-in-law, Wanda Combs; brothers-in-law, Derek (Teresa) Combs and Gregory (Sherry) combs; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would also like to say a special thank you to William "Skip" Brown, Marvenia Bosley and Chuckie's golf buddies, Eve and Harry Hagans for their love and support during their time of need. Special thanks to granddaughter, D'Naijeh Hye for the time and love she has shared with her papa. To Dr. Ntukidem, Sharon would like to send a special thank you for your care and concern during Chuckie's battle.
Charles was passionate about family, fishing and golf. He was a graduate of East High School where he excelled in sports. Charles served in Vietnam in the Army. He received a National Defense Service Medal, a Campaign Service Medal, a Combat infantryman's Badge and was a sharpshooter.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 10:00 a.m until noon at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City with a Celebration of Life to begin at noon. Interment will follow the service at Green Lawn Cemetery.
