He was born in Memphis, TN on March 24, 1953 to Barbara (McGaughy) Gwynn.
He is preceded in death by his father, John L. Gwynn.
Surviving family includes loving mother, Barbara Gwynn; daughters, Denisha, Shenna, Chiquita; sons, Sean, Joseph ; grandchildren, Deion, Dejanelle, Symone, Lyric, Wynter, Jermainy, Journey, Shemar, Shaniya, Khalil, Joseph, Kha'Zyiah, Josiah, Genesis, Elijah, V'Sean, Christiana, Justice, Destiny, Heaven, Messiah; great grandchildren, Christian, Domonei, King Major, Jaden; as well as other loving extended family and friends.
Charles served in the United States Marine for four years.
