Charles W. Hoy Jr., a cherished soul whose warmth and laughter touched the lives of all who knew him, passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2026. Born on September 10, 1954, in Columbus, Charles lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a joyful spirit that brightened every room he entered.

Charles graduated from Central High School in 1973, a beginning that launched a remarkable career spanning over forty years with Columbus Coal and Lime. Starting as a driver, his strong work ethic and determination saw him rise to the esteemed position of vice president—a role he embraced with pride. His journey within the company was not just a testament to his professional capabilities but also to his unwavering commitment and integrity.

Beyond his career, Charles was a beacon of joy and comfort to his family and friends. Known for his infectious smile and a knack for spreading laughter, he often found himself the heart of gatherings, lifting spirits with ease. Among his favorite joys was his regular visits to Tommy's Diner, where he savored meals that brought simple happiness to his days. His beloved dog, Casey Ray, was a steadfast companion, sharing in his quiet moments and affections.

Family was the cornerstone of Charles’s life. Though he mourned the loss of his devoted wife, Debra, whom he cherished deeply until her untimely passing, he now joins her in the heavens above. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Charles W. Hoy Sr. and June (Landis) Hoy, as well as siblings Patty, Jen, Sandy, Neal, Mike, and Terry.

He leaves behind a loving legacy in his daughter Kelly Hennen (Dillon) and son Matthew Willey (Nikki), who carry forward his spirit and values. His grandchildren Shannon (Andy) Montell and Tommy (Alexis) Hennen, along with great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Mackayla, Jayden Montell, Hadley, Hayden Hannen, Sophia, Emilee, and Aliva Willey, will cherish the memories of his unwavering love and laughter.

Charles W. Hoy Jr. was an extraordinary man, whose presence will be deeply missed but whose memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. His celebration of life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123.
