Charles “Charlie” Monroe, 78, passed away on October 5, 2026. He was born on July 25, 1948, in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Charlie will be remembered as a hard worker, a loving father, and a loving husband. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, and throughout his life he devoted himself to both faith and work. He was a pastor for more than 40 years, and his last church was Lighthouse Fellowship Community Church. In addition to his ministry, he was also a business owner for over 42 years, building a life marked by dedication, perseverance, and service to others.
He found joy in the simple and meaningful things of life. Charlie loved to camp and ride his golf cart, and he enjoyed fishing. He also loved to preach and sing, sharing his faith and his voice with those around him. Among the memories his family will always hold close is his love of buying trailers, one of the many familiar and endearing parts of who he was.
Above all, Charlie’s life was centered on family. He shared 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Karen Monroe, a bond that stood as a lasting example of love and devotion. He is also survived by his daughters, Theresa Neece and her husband, Bud, and Kim Neff and her husband, Richard. His love continues through his grandchildren, Charlie Neff, Tasha Stiles, Joshua Neff and his wife, Robbin, and Christopher Stiles and his wife, Amanda. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Averyonna, Joshua, Lylen, Kristan, Lydia, Shayleigh, Curtis, Alexus, and Lincoln, great great grandchild Oakland (Hope), each of whom was part of the family he cherished so deeply.
He is further survived by his brothers and sisters: Richard Monroe and his wife, Young, Eddie Monroe, Beverly Mullins and her husband, Roy, and Cheryl Feeman and her husband, Tim. He also leaves behind his nephew, Chuck Dodds.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. Monroe and Bonnie Monroe Greene; his brothers Carlos Monroe and Walt Monroe; his sisters Wanda Dodds, Mary Martin, and Shirley Belcher; grandson Curtis Stiles; and his father-in-law, Chester Steele, and mother-in-law, Jenny Steele.
