Charles "Chuck" Sowers was born on May 15, 1936, in Columbus, OH. Raised on the "Hilltop", he attended West High School. At the young age of 18 he worked at Clarklift.
Chuck was drafted in 1959 into the U.S. Army at the age of 21. He served in the Army for four years, with one year in Korea and two years in the active reserve.
After his service in the army, Chuck returned to Clarklift. Throughout his life he worked at Brambles, Kaffenbarger and at the age of 79, was currently employed at Principal Truck.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dorothy Sowers; brother, Edward Sowers Sr; step-children, Christine and Thomas Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Linda; sisters, Mert (Gene) Salts, Mary McMillen, Susie (Butch) Leeson; step-children, Charlotte (Woody) Hager, Imelda Smith, Rick (Jenny) Smith; grandchildren, Jessica (Dan) Riley, Jennie (Joshua) Neiswanger, Josh, Ashley, Nicole, Emily, Billy and Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Aubree, Julianne, Victoria, Dalton; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Chuck was known for his good-natured personality, love for his many grandchildren and lots of love for his four dogs, Gizmo, Molly, Lilly and Sophie. Chuck spent his last days surrounded by his loving family and friends. With Linda by his side, Chuck went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 24, 2016.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, February 27, 2016, 2-5 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 with the Memorial Service at 5PM. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the family C/O Charlotte Hager.
