Cheryl “Cheri” Lynn McCoy
December 10, 1955 – September 23, 2026
Cheryl “Cheri” Lynn McCoy, 70, passed away on September 23, 2026. She was born on December 10, 1955.
Cheri's life was defined by resilience, faith, and an unwavering love for the people around her. There were times she worked as many as three jobs at once just to keep a roof over her children's heads, and through sheer determination, she saved enough to buy five acres of land near Buckeye Lake, where she built her dream home. Though she later faced the heartbreak of losing that home, she never let hardship define her life. She chose, again and again, to meet the world with love instead of bitterness.
Those who knew Cheri will remember her most for her beautiful smile and her innate kindness. Even in her own hardest moments, her instinct was to ask who else needed help, who else needed love, who else needed someone in their corner. She never grew weary of doing good.
Cheri found some of the greatest joy of her life in her grandchildren. She raised her granddaughter Jasmine and poured everything good in her into that role, and she cherished her relationship with her granddaughter Ashley. She treasured her family and the close circle of friends who stood by her through the years.
Cheri is survived by her children, Jason and Melissa; her grandchildren, Jasmine, Ashley and Emma; her sister Bev, brother - Rob, sister-in-law, Jocelyn; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Sue Swords.
Cheri will be remembered as a woman who let love win, even when life gave her every reason not to. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
