Chris A Huckeby

June 12, 1977 — May 6, 2017

Christopher Allen Huckeby, age 39, passed away at the home he loved on May 6, 2017. Chris was born June 12, 1977 to Arnold Huckeby and Gayle (Larner) Huckeby and was also deeply loved and cared for by his stepmother Sara Huckeby. He was devoted to his wife of one year and longtime partner Jennifer (Shroyer) Huckeby.
As a child, Chris was actively involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for many years. He enjoyed spending time at his grandparents' farm in Michigan and at the Little Bear Lake cabin where he loved to swim, take walks and boat rides, and read comic books. Chris enjoyed science fiction from a young age and especially loved the Star Wars movies. In college he found a passion for graphic design and making short films. He was politically active and passionate about social justice. Chris also had a large, eclectic music collection. His favorite bands were the Afghan Whigs and the Cure. Chris played guitar and had a deep, lovely singing voice.
Chris was employed by Time Warner Cable/Charter Communications for 10 years. He was held in high esteem by his coworkers who saw him as a mentor. He was known at the office for his upbeat attitude and practical jokes.
Chris had a very special bond with his beloved pugs, Gus and Ernie, second only to his love for his family. He had many dear friends who loved him for his quick wit, compassion, creativity, and caring heart. Always a jokester, Chris loved to tease his friends with the most awful music he could find. Taco "Tootsdays" were a special weekly event he enjoyed with many of his friends.
Chris is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Shroyer) Huckeby; parents Arnold (Sara) and Gayle; his grandparents, Wesley and Margaret Larner; his father and mother-in-law, Steve and Annette Shroyer; many special aunts, uncles, and cousins; his two precious pugs and his cat Wesley. Chris will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. We were all truly fortunate to have this special man in our lives.

Per family's request a memorial service will be held at a later date.
