Chris Shidaker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and cherished friend, passed away on April 20, 2026, in Marysville, Ohio. Born on December 30, 1971, in Wilmington, Ohio, Chris’s life was filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to those closest to him.
A graduate of Marion Franklin High School in 1990, Chris embarked on a career that spanned three decades at Mars Inc., where his dedication and work ethic were admired by many. Beyond his professional accomplishments, it was the depth of his character—his sharp wit, masterful sense of humor, and penchant for pranks—that endeared him to everyone who knew him. Chris was a true jokester and a master prankster, his sarcasm always delivered with a warmth that drew smiles and brought lightness even to the darkest of days.
Chris’s passions were as unique as they were heartfelt. He found joy in the simplest moments—dancing at stoplights, yelling “Blap Blap” in stores or anywhere else he pleased, and proudly sporting his hillbilly teeth, a quirky charm that made him unmistakably Chris. His delight in watching Sponge Bob and the Smurfs reflected a childlike spirit that perfectly complemented his role as a loving grandfather, often sharing laughter and watching cat videos with Everleigh and Ainsley, his treasured grandchildren.
Gardening and fishing were hobbies that grounded him, connecting him deeply to the earth and quietude of nature. Chris also embraced the spirit of the internet with his playful trolling, blending mischief with affection in equal parts. His love for WWE brought another dimension to his vibrant personality, showcasing his enthusiasm and zest for entertainment.
The greatest pride in Chris’s life was his family—his wife of 33 years, Shauna (Doughty) Shidaker, his daughters Brooke Shidaker and Madison (Trenton) Morrow, and his grandchildren, Everleigh and Ainsley Shidaker. He also leaves behind his mother Virginia (Chris) McCargish, his siblings Shelli (Damien) McGhee, Jeff Morgan, Sarah Shidaker, and Ryan Shidaker, as well as his stepmother Susan Shidaker. His circle of love extended to nephews Devin Shidaker and Kurt Keyser, grandmother Joan McCargish, uncles Bill (Tammy) Kocher and Jim Kocher, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, each holding a treasured place in his heart.
Chris faced the profound loss of his father Edwin Shidaker, grandparents Morris and Jean Shidaker and Joe and Wilma Kocher, James McCargish, nephew Justin Shidaker, and a special daughter, Melanie Jorgensen. Despite these losses, his resilience and humor never faded, a testament to his enduring spirit.
Friends and family are invited to honor Chris’s extraordinary life at the visitation on April 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. The funeral service will immediately follow from 6:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on April 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Oak Dale Cemetery, 1290 W Fifth St., Marysville, Ohio, where loved ones will gather to pay their final respects.
Chris Shidaker’s life was a beautiful mosaic filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. His spirit will continue to dance in the hearts of all who knew him, his “Blap Blap” echoing in cherished memories forever.
