Christine E. Krabacher (née Wirth), 85, passed into the Lord’s arms on Sunday, January 25, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio, after a long, interesting life. She was born in Olean, NY, on September 7, 1940, to Frederick and Winifred (Prozeller) Wirth, the second of seven children. While pursuing her BA in English, Christine met Glen M. Krabacher, the love of her life, at the University of Dayton. They were married at St. Bonaventure in Allegany, NY, on December 28, 1964. During Glen’s 28-year career in the U.S. Air Force, they had four children in Massachusetts, raised them in Guam, Texas, and Rome, NY, where they retired. Christine taught kindergarten in Guam and was a library staff member at both Andersen AFB, Guam, and Griffiss AFB, NY. She was proud to volunteer for the Vietnamese Resettlement in Guam, as well as to volunteer at her children’s schools. An avid quilter, Christine was a member of several quilting groups in the Upstate NY area. She returned to Ohio, her childhood state, in 2019 and resided at Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber, where she enjoyed the company of her peers and frequent visits from family members. Christine was predeceased by her husband, Glen, in June 2015, soon after their 50th wedding anniversary; her brother, Michael Wirth; her brother-in-law, David Krabacher; and her sisters-inlaw, Alicia Wirth, Joan (Krabacher) Cron, and Michelle Krabacher. She is survived by her children who loved her immensely: Dawn Hawes (Melvin) of Walkersville, MD; Vanessa Krabacher (Peter Runk) of Silver Spring, MD; Shane Krabacher (Susan Giarrusso) of Fayetteville, NY; and Shelley Hamilton (John) of Columbus, OH; and by her beloved grandchildren: Christopher, Kenna, Shannon, Leah, Ryan (Casandra), Savannah, Daniel, and Neona. She also leaves behind five siblings and several in-laws—particularly her sister, Winie Wirth (Gary Witte), and her brother-in-law, Dick Krabacher (Marty Rigo)—along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Joined for eternity, Christine and Glen will rest together at Union Cemetery, Columbus, OH, near her older brother, Michael Wirth, and his daughter, Heidi McDonald. A devout Catholic, Christine’s Celebration of Life will take place at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Grandview, Ohio, in the spring.
