Claire Andrea Heringer, 82, of Powell, Ohio, passed away on October 1, 2026. Born in Covington, Kentucky, on November 14, 1943, Claire filled her life with faith, family, sunshine, creativity, and plenty of memorable stories.
Claire is lovingly remembered by her children, Nicole (Joe) Sanders and Wade (Sarah) Heringer; her grandchildren, Bryton, Weston, Evan, and Mason; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Heringer; her parents, Ed and Marie Collopy; her brothers, Ed Collopy, Tom Collopy, and Jim Collopy; and her sisters, Ann Egbers, Rita Thaman, Mary Wright, and Sister Andrea Collopy.
After graduating from Holy Cross High School and marrying Jim, Claire moved to Seymour, Illinois, where they raised Nicole and Wade. Each summer, she and the children returned to Northern Kentucky for family visits and outings to Kings Island and The Beach Waterpark. Jim and Claire owned Baldwin Music for decades, with Claire keeping the books—and, no doubt, keeping things in order. She remained in Seymour until Jim’s passing, then moved to Powell, Ohio, to live with Nicole and her family. A devout Catholic and a proud Nana, Claire had a gift for making life colorful—and occasionally keeping the younger members of the family awake with her famously scary stories. She enjoyed creating stained glass and garden stones, watching the Game Show Network, and settling in for weekend golf tournaments on television. During the past six years, she became a familiar face at SourcePoint Senior Center, where she made new friends over cards and dominoes. Claire was also a devoted sun worshiper who rarely passed up a chance to catch a few rays at the Pinetree or Powell pools. Deeply patriotic, she loved her country and took voting so seriously that her family is certain she would have had a backup plan ready for any circumstance. Claire will be remembered for her faith, quick wit, creativity, love of family, and talent for finding the sunny side of life.
The Visitation will be held from 9-11am on Wednesday, October 21st, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 10700 Liberty Road, Powell, OH, where a Mass will be celebrated at 11am.
