Clarence Carlos Mills, 88, of Westerville, passed away January 26, 2017, at Mt Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, OH.
He attended Linden McKinley High School where he played lineman on the 1946 City Championship football team. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War, achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and was awarded the Silver Star Medal for bravery in combat. He retired as a Conductor on the N&W Railroad. Clarence was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He was actively involved in AA for 32 years.
He especially enjoyed family gatherings and sharing stories from his life experiences.
Clarence was preceded in death by his father, Harvey, J. and mother, Ella (Maxwell) and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia A. (Foley); son, Christopher J. (Carol); brother, Neil K. (Diane); granddaughters, Lisa Mills, Erin (Jason) Turner, Beth (Buck) Thompson, Angela (Jim) Rinaldi; nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
Visitation will be on January 31, 2017, 5-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, 10:30 AM at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 East Dublin-Granville Road, New Albany, OH 43054.
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery Lewis Center, OH.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. James the Less Food Pantry, 1614 Oakland Park Avenue, Columbus, OH 43224.
