Colin Kelly Grimmett

June 29, 1943 — May 28, 2020

Colin Kelly Grimmett, age 76, of Groveport, Ohio, departed this world for heaven Thursday, May 28, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on, June 29, 1943, to the late James and Ruby (Curry) Grimmett in Williamson, West Virginia, Kelly's life was distinguished by love of family and friends, and his service to others.

Colin was a graduate of Red Jacket High School, and attended Circleville Bible College and Ohio University. Answering God's call to pastoral ministry as a young father, he was was ordained by the Churches of Christ in Christian Union. Rev. Grimmett served as Lead Pastor to seven congregations across New York and Ohio.

Along with caring for the spiritual lives of his congregations from a servant's heart, he used his gift of craftsmanship and applied his trades as a Master Plumber and Certified HVAC Specialist to lead significant capital improvements to the facilities of each of the churches blessed to have him as Pastor.

In 2018, he was honored by the Churches of Christ in Christian Union for 50 years of faithful service. Kelly was deeply appreciative of God's creation; flowers, wildlife, forests and gardens; always anticipating the next time he'd be able to spend a day in the woods or on the water.

His heart and home were always open to receive and love another child, grandchild, or great-grandchild, never seeming to notice if they came to him through biology or circumstance, and the littles always delighted in the endless risk of Grandpa-Great's twister tickles, his silly songs, and gentle hugs.

Kelly will be lovingly remembered by - his wife of 44 years, Linda (Bailey) Purtee Grimmett; children, Coleen (Rick) Bethel, James Richard "Rick" (Teresa "Tessy") Grimmett, Theresa (John) Eckstein, William (Rhonda) Purtee, Mark Scott Grimmett; daughter-in-law, Melissa Grimmett; grandchildren, Shiloh Phillips, Tyler Bethel, Lindsey Riffle, Leah Grimmett, Charles Harber, John Eckstein, Kelly Masys, Jaqulynn Scott, Jylian Purtee, Jocelynn Purtee, Brittany Wilke, Adam Wilke, Colin Kelly Grimmett, III "Trey"; 23 great grandchildren; brothers, Bob Grimmett and Edward Grimmett, numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and precious friends too numerous to count.

In addition to his parents Kelly is preceded in death by his first wife, Faye (Evans) Grimmett; brother, Floyd Grimmett; beloved son, Colin Kelly Grimmett, Jr., and the little ones who crossed over before.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 4, 2020, from 12:00 - 2:00pm at Newcomer Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City OH where Rev. Art Penird of Harpersville, NY will officiate a funeral service at 2:00pm.
