Dalene Vermilya, 91, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Heartland of Uptown Westerville.
She was born January 27, 1923 in Columbus, daughter of the late Roy and Leila Jordan Shockley.
In addition to her parents, Dalene was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Vermilya and brothers, Donnie and Francis Shockley.
She is survived by her son, James (Jeanette) Vermilya; daughter, Suzanne (Darryl) Mayo; sisters, Eileen (Charles) Risko and Juanita Clifton; brothers, Milton (Vicki) Shockley and Dean (Irene) Haycook; seven grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 3:00-6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus.
Funeral service will be Monday, August 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the New Albany First Church of the Nazarene, 6000 Johnstown Rd. New Albany, with Pastor Larry McNutt, officiating, with visitation one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Albany Nazarene Benevolent Fund.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the Heartland Health and Heartland Hospice caregivers.
