Dana Simpkins

Dana Scott Simpkins, age 54 of Columbus, Ohio, passed away September 29, 2026 at Mount Carmel Grove City Hospital. A lifelong Columbus resident, Dana was born on May 22, 1972 to Jonell (Joby) Simpkins and the late Lawrence Simpkins. On April 26, 2008 Dana married his love Charity Ane Simpkins (Chambers) who he shared the next 18 wonderful years with.

Additionally, Dana is survived by daughter Ainsley Joy Simpkins, brother Todd (Kim) Simpkins of Ashville, Ohio, nephews Logan and Hunter Simpkins of Ashville, Ohio, niece Kennedy Chambers of Nashville, Tennessee and brother-in-law Eric Chambers of Ventura, California. He is also survived by a large extended family, in-laws, and many close friends. Last but not least, his fur baby puppies Millenium Falcon (Millie), Chewbacca (Chewie), and cat PrincessKittyPants, who he claimed not to love, but we all knew better.

Dana was born with SMA, a rare neuromuscular condition related to muscular dystrophy which he refused to let define him. With rare wit and humor, he courageously overcame every obstacle to live a full life. He graduated from Independence High School, and Franklin University, then worked for GAP, Inc. for 25 years. His marriage to Charity and becoming a father to Ainsley were the greatest joys of his life.

In his personal life, Dana was possibly the greatest Star Wars fan of all time. The galaxy far, far away always providing a universe of excitement and wonder that he’d enjoyed since he was five years old. Dana was an avid game player. He loved spending time with family and friends playing any kind of game, winning more than his fair share. He also loved sports, enjoying every chance to go to Ohio State Football games with his brother Todd, and yearly games at different MLB stadiums all over the country with Charity and Ainsley. He was always looking forward to the next vacation cruise with his family.

We are returning Dana to God's hands for safe keeping on Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH (614-539-6166). Funeral service on Monday, at Harvest Assembly of God, 8075 Dellinger Rd., Galloway, OH on October 5, 2026 at 12:00pm with Pastors Chris Tomaso and Sara Kirk officiating. The family would like to invite friends and family to a meal immediately following the services.
