David Carter, 88 from Grove City, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2015. He retired from the Columbus Fire Department as a Lieutenant after 30 years of dedicated service. Dave was an enthusiastic Ohio State Buckeye fan, traveling for the 2002 & 2008 National Championship Games. He was the Grove City Little League commissioner in the 1960's & 1970's and later became the District Administrator for District 6 of Little League in Ohio. Being a veteran of WWII as an encryption/decoder at the end of the war in Japan and served in the Ohio National Guard. He was a Past Commander of American Legion Paschal Post #164 and District Commander of District 12 as well. He was a member of the VFW & Am Vets. His love of country was surpassed only by his love of family. He grew up and went to school in London, Ohio. Dave enjoy gathering with friends & family, celebrating holidays together and always a good joke or story. He is preceded in death by his parents Freddie David & Edna (Reed) Carter, his wife Evelyn (Caines) Carter, his grandson Timmy Price, brothers William & Alfred Carter and sister Evelyn Coomer. He is survived by his children David Carter of Gahanna, Douglas (Renee) Carter of Noble Oklahoma, Denise Colley and Dawn (Roger) Dye of Grove City. Dave was also blessed by grandchildren Sarah (Frank) Doughty, Molly (Brandon) Buche, Kadie (Ryan) Guth, David R. and Brady Carter, Rashelle (Greg) Kilmer, Alyssa and Kayden Wyatt, Tony (Lareesa), Tory (Heather), Heather and Tommy Price, Andrea and Daniel Dye. Ten great-grandchildren Franklin Jr., Josalyn and Brayllin Doughty, Madeleine and Maddox Buche, Aldon Kilmer, Kyndra, Konnor, Kora and Stella Price; Tyler and Tanner Dye; and special friend Harriett Blagg, Tom and Joyce King. He was loved and will be missed by many nieces, nephew, grandnieces & grandnephews, friends and acquaintances. Newcomer Southwest Chapel in Grove City will receive visitors on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral will be on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11:00am followed by graveside ceremony and burial Grove City Cemetery.
