Listen to Obituary

David Leroy Hobbs, 85, of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Dave was born on June 15, 1941, to Lorenzo B. Hobbs and Esther Alta Martin Hobbs.

The Lord has welcomed home one of the most extraordinary men. He was a man of unwavering love, kindness, and strength whose greatest joy in life was his family. He lived each day with a grateful heart, cherished every moment, and loved deeply. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he was a constant source of love, wisdom, and encouragement. His family was his greatest pride, and nothing brought him more happiness than being surrounded by those he loved.

His passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed by his beloved wife, Betty Potts Hobbs, whose life was forever blessed by his love and companionship. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on through his family and in the countless lives he touched. His memory will remain a lasting source of strength and inspiration, and he will be loved, cherished, and remembered always.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Potts Hobbs; his two sons, Steven J. (Stephanie) Potts and David J. (Jennifer) Potts; and his seven cherished grandchildren: Kayla Jane, Abbie Marie, Kylee Jo, Addison Lynn, Ryleigh Ann, Karsen Layne, and Kaden Lee. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish his memory forever.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo B. Hobbs and Esther Alta Martin Hobbs, and his two brothers, Pastor Ronald Hobbs and Evangelist James Emory Hobbs.

David's departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, far greater than he could ever have imagined. So many people looked up to him, and his memory will forever remain a source of inspiration. Though he is gone, the impact he made on those who knew and loved him will never be forgotten.
