David Lee Kalb Jr., affectionately known as "Butch," passed away on April 21, 2026, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Born on December 26, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio, Butch's life was marked by a deep love for family, community, and the simple joys that brought him happiness.
Butch was a passionate supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Columbus Clippers, finding great delight in cheering them on. His adventurous spirit led him to a love of travel, with cruises holding a special place in his heart. But it was the moments spent with family and friends that truly defined his days—sharing laughter, stories, and companionship.
An enthusiast of bowling, Butch enjoyed the camaraderie and friendly competition it offered. He was also a devoted gardener, finding peace and satisfaction in cultivating his own vegetables and especially savoring the taste of homegrown tomatoes. His love of food was boundless; he was known for his sweet tooth, with root beer, cookies and pizza as his favorite indulgences.
Butch is survived by his beloved father, David Lee (Nancy) Kalb Sr., and his sisters, Deborah McClellan and Susie (Richard) Dean. He also leaves behind his uncle, David (Marcia) Morgan, along with many nieces, nephews, and special friends who cherished his warmth and kindness. The devoted care of Chris Walker, Daniel Adjei, Abdul Thuray, Sallu Bangura, and Mohammed Conteh provided comfort in his final days and will always be remembered with gratitude.
He joins his late mother, Barbara Ann Morgan, and his maternal grandparents, Leslie and Evelyn Morgan, as well as his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Mildred Kalb, who now watch over him from beyond.
A visitation will be held on April 29, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio.
