David Norris Morehouse died peacefully at home in Columbus on July 1, 2020 after a long illness at age 56.
David was born on February 7, 1964, in Bridgeport, CT. He attended the Fairfield, CT public schools from grades K-12, graduating in 1982 from Roger Ludlowe High School where he received a National Merit Scholarship, an indication of his innate abilities in Math and Science. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1994 with a B.S. degree in Computer and Information Science.
He worked as a software engineer for several technology firms in Greater Columbus including Ohio Semitronics, Topcon Positioning Services, and Avcom-SMT. He was fluent in numerous computer programming languages, and attended seminars on topics such as Semiconductor and Software Design, and Artificial Intelligence.
David was a passionate reader of Science Fiction, a masterful home cook, and a devoted music fan, most notably of the Grateful Dead. It was his love of music that eventually connected him with the love of his life, Vicki Juba Moon. They fell in love at the 2000 Comfest Festival in Columbus, and were inseparable ever since. They shared a passion for canoe outings, travel, music, friends, and family.
Juba and David were always there for each other, enjoying the good times, and supporting each other through the challenging ones. As David's health deteriorated in recent years, Juba was his caregiver, supporter, and advocate. Juba also opened the door to her family, one that provided cherished relationships and lots of laughs with daughter BoRaini Melfi-Smith.
Some of David's happiest times were spent talking about the grandchildren, McKenna and Jayce Melfi-Cline. They called him Grandpa "Bugga" and loved spending time with him.
David is also survived by: his mother Sarah Morehouse Jewell; his father W. Bradley Morehouse and his wife Marian Bradley; and siblings Susan Morehouse, Chris Morehouse, Rick McCally, John McCally, and Becky Morehouse and their families. He was predeceased by siblings Catherine McCally, Stephen Morehouse, and Lorna Morehouse. David also leaves behind many cherished cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, step brothers and sisters, and friends from all over the country.
