David Erik Saas, of Columbus, passed away peacefully in his sleep on 3/25/2026 after a lifelong battle with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis.
He is survived by his daughter, Veda Stafos, and son-in-law RJ Stafos; his beloved grandchildren, Justice and Serenity; and great-grandchildren, Astra and Mars of Kansas City. He is also survived by his sister, Kristy Nelsen-Bouck (Terry) of Goodyear; nephews Erik Anderson (Christina) of Tucson and Kyle Anderson (Olivia) of Phoenix; and his brother, Pete Saas (Joanna Thomas) and nephews Malcolm, Herrick, and Trevor, all of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Joan Saas.
A graduate of the University of Kansas and a long time resident of Kansas City, he carried a deep love for music—especially punk rock—and remained a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers despite the pain they caused him at times. He found peace and joy in nature, and when he was able, loved spending time outdoors and hiking.
He will be remembered for his resilience, his independent spirit, and his stubborn nature, often paired with a quirky sense of humor that made those around him smile or groan appropriately. Above all, he will be remembered for the love he had for his family.
