David Smith

David "Dave" Smith, born on June 23, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away on February 15, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family. He dedicated over 35 years of his career to Transmet Corporation, where he was respected and appreciated by his colleagues.

Dave was a proud member of the Westland High School class of 1976, where he earned recognition as a state runner-up champion wrestler. He was known for his funny, witty personality, and great sense of humor, which made him well-liked among friends and family. Dave loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, and was a devoted fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. He cherished spending time with his daughters and grandchildren and made special memories during outings with them, as well as on beach vacations to Myrtle Beach and Panama City.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Debbie; daughter Jessica; grandchildren Austin, Makayla, Paisley, Emmit, Jordan, and Cylas; and great-grandchild Cecelia. He also leaves behind his sisters, Linda (Phillip) Dillard, Rita Sharrock, and Lois Smith, Son- in-law, Phil Siders, along with his mother-in-law, Sharon Peters, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beulah (Hicks) Smith, and his daughter, Stacey Smith. His family was his proudest accomplishment, and he will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest in Grove City, Ohio, on February 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on February 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at Galloway Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
