David W. Wilt

David W. Wilt, known affectionately as "Dave," passed away on April 25, 2026, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Born on April 1, 1944, in Sandusky, Ohio, Dave lived a life marked by dedication, humility, and love for those around him.

A proud veteran, Dave served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service extended beyond the military as he became a self-employed business owner, successfully running his own insurance company for many years. Known for being a man of simple pleasures and genuine character, Dave was truly the salt of the earth.

Dave cherished spending time with family and friends, valuing the bonds that sustained and enriched his life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Ruth E. (Davis) Wilt, and their sons: Joshua Wilt, Derek Wilt, David (Wendy) Davis, and Aaron (Emily) Tom. He also leaves behind his brother Stevan Wilt, along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry forward his memory.

He was preceded in death by his brother John Wilt, sister-in-law Sandy Wilt, and his parents, James and Nancy (Gedge) Wilt.

A visitation for David will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on May 1, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

David’s life was a testament to integrity, perseverance, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Those wishing to pay their respects are warmly invited to attend the visitation and memorial service to celebrate his remarkable life.
