Debby Zelli, age 45, passed away at home on Monday, October 23, 2017 after multiple battles with cancer over the last 6 years.
Debby was preceded in death by her mother Roberta. She is survived by her father, Robert; brother, Jeffery; aunt, Adelaide Heller of New Jersey and uncle, Edward Zelli of Indiana; many cousins and friends.
A 1993 graduate of Capital University, she went on to receive her Masters degree and pursue a doctorate in cultural anthropology at The Ohio State University. After graduation she relocated to Kansas as an assistant professor at Emporia State University for 4 years. She then worked in multiple positions and organizations focused on domestic violence prevention and services in several Kansas cities, most recently running the Wichita YWCA Family Crisis Center.
Debby returned to Gahanna in August 2016 after 17 years in Kansas. She joined the Ohio Domestic Violence Network as Training & Technical Assistance Program Director.
Cremation is being handled by the Northeast Chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home. A memorial gathering will be scheduled in the future. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ohio Domestic Violence Network.
