In Loving Memory of Debra Jo Dunaway

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Debra Jo Dunaway, who was born on June 1, 1954, in Kent, Ohio, to the late Antonio and Ernestine Dunaway.

Debra dedicated her life to caring for others. After retiring, she embraced what she proudly called her new career-being a full-time mother, grandmother, and caregiver. There was nothing that brought her greater joy than taking care of her daughter and grandchildren. Her days were filled with love, laughter, encouragement, and countless acts of kindness that made everyone around her feel safe and cared for.

Debbie never met a stranger. She had a heart that welcomed everyone and a spirit that found purpose in helping those who could not help themselves. She loved being needed, giving without hesitation, and making sure those around her knew they were loved. Her generosity, compassion, and selfless nature touched countless lives, and the stories shared by those she helped are a testament to the incredible woman she was.

Above all else, Debra treasured her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Shontae Dunaway-Wilson; her beloved grandchildren, Edward Dunaway and Ellisa Grant; and her precious great-grandchildren, Easton Dunaway, Ethan Dunaway, and Eden Dunaway, who brought immeasurable joy to her life.

She is also lovingly remembered by her four sisters, her brother, Antonio Dunaway, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. She shared a special bond with Nicole Dunaway, Rodrick Dunaway, Meshia Dunaway, Tory Thomas, and Tami Love, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Debra would also want to acknowledge Kyla Walford, Miles Dunaway, and her former husband, Darryl Welch, whose lives remained an important part of her journey.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Ernestine Dunaway, and her beloved sisters, LaVonne "Bonnie" Dunaway and Phyllis Dunaway-Snell. Though they are no longer with us, we find comfort in knowing they have been reunited in eternal peace.

Debra's legacy is one of unconditional love, generosity, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She taught us that the greatest gift we can give one another is our time, our compassion, and our love. Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the memories she gave us and the example she set.

Debbie loved like no other, and her absence leaves a space that can never be filled. While we will miss her every day, we take comfort in knowing that her love will continue to live on in each of us.

We love you, Debbie, to the moon and back-and forever beyond.
