Deloris Barker, age 76, of Columbus, OH and formerly Steubenville, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Wexner Heritage Rehabilitation House after a brief stay.
She was born in Covington, KY to the late Charles and Rosalee Worrells. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Napoleon Barker and daughter, Annette Barker, sister, Alberta Worrells Bradley and two brothers, Charles and John Worrells.
A Baptist by faith, she loved having the Bible read to her. Deloris was a sweet and gentle person and loved being surrounded by friends and family and spending time sitting and talking to her neighbors at the John F. Kennedy Building in Steubenville. She always had a smile on her face, a song in her heart and a hearty contagious laugh. It was a joy to be in her presence. Deloris enjoyed shopping at the various Goodwill stores and prided herself in finding a good bargain. She liked watching television especially the news, a good mystery program, westerns and became a big fan of reality TV shows. She also loved playing Bingo.
Deloris was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by four sons, Clyde (Melodie) Barker and Little Barker both of Columbus, Lonnie and Joseph Barker and a daughter, Mary (Barker) Ellis all of Steubenville, OH; two sisters, Anna (Worrells) Murray of Philadelphia, PA and Lucille Worrells of Steubenville, OH. Deloris had fifteen grandchildren, Cache' and Eddy Barker, J'Qua and J'Rell Barker, J'Raud Scott, Brandi Zimmerman, Nathaniel Barker, Takyia Barker, Deonte and Darnell Ellis, Mytia and Tenia Barker, Maurice Jury and Trayveon Crawford, several great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a close friend and former caregiver Becky Cogar.
Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm, Monday, February 4, 2019 at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH, where a funeral service will begin at 1pm.
