Deloris Ann Smith peacefully passed away with her daughter by her bedside on December 25, 2018, age 86. She was born in Grahn, Kentucky on June 23, 1932 to parents Edward and Eunice Taylor.
Deloris was a devoted mother of six children, each of whom she taught by her example of strength and determination to achieve their best in life and to generously give themselves in helping others. While living in Ohio, Deloris' interests in real estate and restoring homes was influential in the careers of her daughter and grandson. She also created a successful real estate career in Florida. At age 50 she answered another calling to become a registered nurse, a career she loved and enjoyed working until the age of 73. A daughter and granddaughter have since followed her into nursing.
She enjoyed traveling with family on many cruises and vacations throughout the United States also enjoying deep sea fishing off the shores of Florida. She was a member of Parkland Baptist Church in Winter Haven, FL. She loved singing in the choir and participating in community events. She did what needed doing without hesitation. Her strength has been unyielding in times of great loss and sorrow. She was both loved and admired.
She was preceded in death by Robert, her devoted husband of 39 years , her daughters Barbara Slack and Deborah Blanton, granddaughter Jonna Shell, sister, Violet Lowe and brother, Richard Taylor.
Deloris will be greatly missed by her children who survive her, Rebecca (John) Shell of Debary FL, Ken Blanton Jr. of Bowling Green, KY, Sherry (Mike) Laemmle of Lancaster, OH, Faith (Randy) Taylor with whom she resided in Lockbourne, OH, her sister Margie Murray of Grove City, OH. She was a beloved grandmother of eleven and great-grandmother of seventeen.
Visitation Friday, Dec. 28, 2018 from 9am until the time of Funeral Service at 10am at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Interment to follow at Grove City Cemetery (old), Grove City, OH.
