Diana M. Hovatter

May 4, 1941 — August 4, 2025

Diana Marie Hovatter, (known by many as Lady Di), a child of God, passed away quietly on August 4th, 2025 at 84 years old. She was joyfully welcomed on the other side by her loved ones who went before her.

Born May 4th 1941 at home in Bristol, WV. She was the 9th child of Mildred (Ford) and Clyde Hovatter.

Her childhood days were filled with playing baseball, sledding and playing marbles. She fell in love with Steamboat Willie and Mickey Mouse at an early age, that love followed her throughout her life.

Her family moved to Middleport, Ohio where she attended elementary and high school, where she was the captain of her high school basketball team. While still in high school her family moved to Laurelville, OH, graduating in 1960. Following graduation, she moved to Columbus where she found her first job in the office of Woolworths. She had many jobs through the years: Exact Weight and Scales, YMCA, and Compuserve (selected 1982 Associate of the Year).

A natural athlete, she loved tennis, golf, swimming, skiing and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Diana collected clowns, loved dancing (especially to New York, New York), feeding the birds, squirrels and the beauty of monarch butterflies. Diana was thankful and proud to join many others as a breast cancer survivor.

She is preceded in death by her parents Mildred (Ford) and Clyde Hovatter, her sisters Betty Hughes, Geri Fenton, Gloria Hampton, Alice Spellman and Kay Unger and her brothers Ronald, Clyde Leon, Bill, Richard and Gary Hovatter and Jim Taylor; sisters-in-law, Frankie and Valencia Gail Hovatter.

Left behind to mourn are sisters-in-law Pat Hovatter (Bill), Nancy Hovatter (Clyde Leon) and brothers-in-law, Ed Spellman (Alice) and Corbin Fenton (Geri); cousins, Pat Morris and David (Flori) Kirkpatrick; many nieces, nephews, a longtime family friend Sue Gehring and dear friends Patty Barnes, Ally Baumann and Kay Amick.

A memorial graveside service will be held at the Riverview Cemetery in Middleport, OH at a later date.
