Donald Eugene Cain passed away on December 16, 2025, leaving a legacy defined by devotion to family, an unyielding work ethic, and a life built through honest labor. Raised in Columbus, Ohio, Don was the youngest of thirteen children, a position that shaped his resilience, humility, and deep appreciation for family bonds.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy Cain and Hiram Cain.

Don shared sixty-nine years of marriage with his teenage sweetheart and lifelong companion, Deloris Jean (Palmer) Cain. Their marriage stood as a testament to loyalty, perseverance, and enduring love-values Don carried into every aspect of his life.

He was a devoted father to four children: Candy (Cain) Thomas, Sandy (Cain) Montel, Don E. Cain II, and Daniel Cain. His family continued to grow through numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom were a profound source of pride and purpose for him.

A man defined by work ethic and craftsmanship, Don spent his career contributing tangibly to his community. He began as a general laborer at Federal Glass on the south end of Columbus, later worked as a cement truck driver for Arrow Concrete, and ultimately concluded his professional life as a City Inspector for the City of Hilliard. In each role, he was respected for his integrity, attention to detail, and unwavering reliability.

Outside of his professional life, Don found great satisfaction in renovating the many homes he owned over his lifetime, approaching each project with patience, skill, and pride. He was also an avid camper, finding peace and joy in the outdoors, often surrounded by family.

Donald Eugene Cain will be remembered as a steady presence, a provider, a builder, and a man who lived by example. His life reflected enduring values of hard work, commitment, and family-values that will continue through the generations he leaves behind.
