Donald Hitchens

Donald Hitchens was born on June 19, 1947 to Harley and Catherine Hitchens of Urbancrest, OH, where he grew up. He attended Urbancrest Elementary School and Grove City High School.
Donald passed away Friday Dec. 17, 2015 at the age of 68 at OSU University East hospital surrounded by his family after an extended illness of COPD. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Elmer and Melvin; and sister Dosena Cathcart.
Donald was employed by White Cross Hospital, Riverside Hospital, Schmidts Nursery, retiring from Winnescapes Nursery as a landscape foreman. He truly loved his job of landscaping, but had to quit because of the COPD.
Survived by sister Shirley Brewer his caregiver of Pataskala, OH; her son Michael, also a caregiver ; brothers Robert (Becky), Douglas (Ramona); sisters Delores Winn of Canton, OH and Willa McGee of Chicago; Children Anthony (Andrea) of Grove City, Tyrone (Kiki) of California, Tonya of Urbancrest, and Albert (Anna) of Columbus; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and ex-wife Gloria.
Visitation will be held from 10 am to 11:00 am on Wed. Dec. 23 at Newcomer Funeral Home SW 3393 Broadway Grove City, OH 43123 where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, with burial to follow in Union Cemetery.
