Donald F. Hott, 67, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away May 6, 2020. He was born on July 13, 1952 to the late Harold and Hermine Hott.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Laura Presley-Hott; brother, Thomas Hott.
Surviving family includes, daughter, Amanda (Mick) Hoag; son, Jake Hott; fur baby, Eddie George Hott; grandchildren, Brian (Kim), Brittany, Tyler, Jadon, Nathan, Matthew, Alexis, Sydney, Lacey, Kayley, Gage, Gavin, Maddison; great grandchildren, Noralynn, Adalynn; sister, Cathy (Dave) Stomp; brother, Bill (Kaye) Hott, Bob (Georgia) Hott; as well as many other loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Donald was a jack of all trades. He was an editor of the Yelvington Publications in Mascoutah, IL. Don worked about six years in the restaurant business and received a two year technical degree in food cost and preparation management from the Columbus Technical Institute.
During his early years he was an insurance agent for the Life of Virginia Commonwealth Life Insurance Company and received the Commonwealth's Leading Producer the Firemen's Award, for sales performance. Don also represented the Fairview Heights Tribune, Mascoutah Herald, Tribune Business World, First Monday, South County Smart Shopper, and other Yelvington publications.
While in Ohio, he owned a local gas station in Marysville, OH and raised dairy cattle.
He also was a successful business owner for over 15 years, of the former Worthington and Marysville Locksmith Company.
Don was a member of the Moose Lodge and a volunteer disaster relief worker and case worker for the American Red Cross.
His hobbies were bowling, hunting and fishing, but he especially loved his family.
He was loved by all and will be truly missed.
