Donald Hungerman

Donald Hungerman, age 87 of Canal Winchester, OH, passed away peacefully at home on December 24, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 31, 1937 in Martins Ferry, OH, Donald was known for his easy going nature and for his great love of storytelling that entertained family and friends.

Throughout his life, he was a devoted husband, father, grandpap and great-grandpap. Donald’s life was full of love, particularly for his high school sweetheart, Carolyn, with whom he created a beautiful life over 64 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a family full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

He leaves behind his four children, Christine Gualtieri, Cheryl (Steve) Baughman, Michele (Johnny) Schmidt, and Scott (Alisa) Hungerman. He also loved spending time with his grand-children, Susie, Megan (Dave), Jill (Mark), Eric (Angela), Todd (Amy), Brad, Keri (Freddy), Nico, Scotty, Lauren, Ben, Ryan, Eli, Courtney, Nathan, Noah, and his great-grandchildren Jackson, Ivan, Dmitri, Knox, Archer, Victor, Lincoln, Oliver, Sawyer, Emmy, Cora, Sienna, Tori, Iona, and Marleena.

In addition to his family, Donald was an enthusiastic baseball trading card collector, loved watching all sports and his family proclaimed him as the "Biggest Buckeye fan EVER." He found joy in family gatherings and loved traveling to the beach, where he created lasting memories with his loved ones. Donald enjoyed his 25 years of retirement following his career at Abbott Labs.

Donald is now reunited with those who preceded him in death, including his dear wife Carolyn, his parents Harry Hungerman Sr. and Olive Bryant, his son-in-law Rocco Gualtieri, and his siblings Betty, Doris, Sylvia, and Harry Jr.

His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and he will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

There will be a celebration of life as requested together for Don and Carolyn in the springtime.
