Donald L. McNichols

Donald L. McNichols, age 101 and 9 months, passed away on October 28, 2026. Donald was born on January 28, 1925 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Miles "Burt" and Sadie McNichols.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 78 years, Nancy McNichols, infant son, Donald Wayne McNichols, grandsons, Zachary and Jacob Homoelle, son-in-law, Gary Oakley Sr, siblings, Irene, Ralph, Wilma Jean, Miles Jr, Sylvia, Glenna, and Dale.

He is lovingly survived by his children, Janice Oakley, Joyce (Tom) Leffel, Joan (Adrian) Gibbs, Judy (Phil) Homoelle, June Ulrey, Donald Jeffrey McNichols, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was a devout Christian and extremely active in his church for years. He retired from Western and Southern Insurance. Donald loved baking for his family. In his 70's he was very artistic and loved to paint. He enjoyed bird watching, completing jigsaw puzzles, and watching golf. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.

He will be deeply missed.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at Newcomer SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City, Ohio 43123 for calling hours from 5pm - 7pm. Additional calling hours will take place on Thursday, November 5, 2026 from 10am until the start of the funeral at 11am. Interment will follow the funeral at Alton Cemetery.
