Donald Ray Marcum, 79, passed away at his residence in Columbus, Ohio on November 12, 2015. He was a father of two, genealogist, writer, diesel mechanic, and Champ Cart race car driver. Donald was 1 of 9 children born to Roy and Polly (Spaulding) Marcum of Mingo County, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Leroy "Bob" Marcum, Earl Marcum and Eugene "Trigger" Marcum, and 1 sister, Ida Belle Morrissey, all of Columbus, Ohio. He is survived by his 2 children, Melissa (Tim) Monfort of Columbus, Ohio and Andrea Marcum of Lexington, KY, and his 2 grandchildren, Alexandrea Marlowe and Timothy Dakota Ray Monfort, both of Columbus, Ohio; by his 2 brothers, Columbus Carl (Arvella) Marcum of Wayne, West Virginia and Ulysses "Les" (Phyllis) Marcum of Marengo, Ohio; and by his 2 sisters, Edna (Charles) Reichert of Brandon, Florida and Elizabeth "Babs" Compton of Seffner, Florida.
The visitation will be held on Monday, November 16 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home at 3393 Broadway Street in Grove City, Ohio. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Internment will take place in Brewer Cemetery in Mingo County West Virginia.
