Donald Raymond Sayre

Donald Sayre, age 95.5, passed away on August 24, 2026. He was born in Akron, Ohio on April 26, 1931 to the late Chloe Sayre (Sloan) and Delbert Sayre. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola; sisters, Margaret, Donna; brothers, Howard, Jerry, Gene, Chester; son, Ray Norman. He is survived by his children; Viola Walker, Tom Norman, Margaret Stephens, Lee Sayre, Chester Sayre, Bill Sayre, and Andy Sayre; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Don enjoyed visiting with family, helping others, attending church, using his computer and playing games (especially when he won). He loved his family - especially his wife of 69 years (Viola) and his family who helped him during his final years. He lived a long simple life starting off with driving family trucks, being a cook in the Army and then working at Lennox for 30+ years. He was happy until the very end and really enjoyed his last days in assisted living at the Harrison on Fifth. He will be greatly missed and we have been blessed to have had Don in our lives.

A visitation will be held at Sunset Cemetery Mausoleum in Galloway, Ohio 43119 on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 11:00am until time of funeral service at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association .
