Donald L. Schablin

Donald "Don" Laverne Schablin, of Grove City, OH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the age of 70. During his last days, he was cared for with compassion and love at Mount Carmel Hospice in Columbus, OH.

Don was born to parents, Art and Hazel Schablin on March 1, 1946 in Redwood Falls, MN. He attended Redwood Falls High School. Shortly after graduating high school in 1964, Don enlisted in the Army National Guard and served for four years. Don embraced truck driving which ended up to be a profession that he loved. Don continued truck driving until his retirement.

Don is survived by his wife, Joyce of Grove City, OH; sons, Randy Schablin of Grove City, OH, Scott Schablin of Olivia, MN, Lonny (Missy) Schablin of Jeffersonville, OH, and Brian (Katie) Schablin of Osakis, MN; daughters, Shelly Schablin-Shoemaker of Grove City, OH and Jane Schablin of Grove City, OH; brother, Doug (Cindy) Schablin of Redwood Falls, MN and sister, Lynda (John) Goblish of Redwood Falls, MN.

Ready to greet him in heaven are his parents, Art and Hazel; brothers, Lee and Bob, and sister Lavonne.

Don's memorial service will be at Grove City United Methodist Church (Purple Door Church) on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM. In accordance with Don's wishes, he was cremated and his ashes will be whispered through the wind at a later date in Minnesota. The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers and donations. As an alternative, those who wish to contribute can do so to Mount Carmel Hospice in Columbus, OH.
