Donald A. Sobe, 75, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020 in Columbus, Ohio.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio August 16, 1944. Son of Bernard (deceased) and Marguerite Sobe (deceased). Brother of William (deceased), James (deceased), Lawrence and Dolores Sobe.
Devoted husband of 41 years to Deborah W. (Casey) Sobe; dearest father of daughter, Dayna Sheikh; and loving grandfather of Harper Sheikh. Dear brother-in-law and uncle to members of the Casey family.
Don's two greatest loves were his family and sports. He played organized softball and baseball well into his early 70's and traveled to Ft. Myers each November to compete in a seniors hardball World Series, often times named MVP. He coached high school girl softball and watching his daughter compete athletically was right up there as one of his greatest joys. Picking teams for fantasy football with his daughter became an annual winter rite of passage. Don had many friends who met regularly for breakfast, with maple donuts with nuts and a cup of coffee on top of his order preference. Don loved the diverseness of his "breakfast group" knowing that it added a special meaning to his life. Don definitely enjoyed the smaller things in life and was content in who he was.
A private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio and The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute in Don's honor.
