Donald R. Thomas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully after a life marked by dedication to faith, family, and quiet strength. He was born on November 25, 1938, in Corning, Ohio, to the late John Roy Thomas and Wanna Pearl (Smith) Thomas, whose roots in southeastern Ohio helped shape his character and values.
Donald grew up in Corning and later graduated from Logan High School. He continued his education at Franklin University, demonstrating his commitment to learning and personal growth. He went on to build a long and respected career with Nestlé Corporation, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.
On October 19, 1980, Donald married the love of his life, Diane D’Andrea Thomas. Together, they built a life centered on devotion to one another and their family. Their home in Gahanna, Ohio was a place of warmth, stability, and lasting memories.
Donald is lovingly remembered by his wife, Diane Thomas; his daughter, Michelle (Jason) Schaub; and his cherished grandchildren, Austin (Francesca) Schaub, Keegan Schaub, and Dillon Schaub. He took great pride in his family and found immense joy in watching it grow across generations.
He is also survived by his siblings, Daryle (Ernie) Hamilton and Diana (Russ) Reich; his nieces and nephews, Christy Finch, Thomas (Barb) Hamilton, Bethany (Ryan) Lesniewski, and Adam (Sarah) Reich; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews, including Renee (Joe) Boudreau, Jana (Lucas) Shaffer, Caitlynn Hamilton, Cody Hamilton, Owen Lesniewski, Keeley Reich, and Patrick Reich; and great-great-nieces and nephews, Addie Boudreau, Kristopher Boudreau, Benton Shaffer, and Liv Shaffer. His legacy of love and family connection will continue through each of them.
Donald will be remembered as a steady, dependable presence in the lives of those who knew him. He valued his faith, loyalty, and family above all else. His quiet kindness and unwavering support left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Memorial Service will be held at Whitehall United Methodist Church, 525 Bernhard Road, Whitehall, OH 43213 on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 12:00pm. A private burial will follow for the immediate family.
